Jesús “Chuy” Covarrubias is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist with roots in Monterey County who has performed professionally most of his life. He holds degrees from U.C. Berkeley and Stanford University and currently teaches Music and Ethnomusicology at San José City College.

Chuy is excited to launch this solo project that will bring his voice and guitar to more intimate settings with both English and Spanish covers of many genres including, Pop, R&B, Country, and Latin.

 

He plays Guitar, Keyboards, Alto Saxophone and Accordion.  In 1989 he joined “Dr. Loco’s Rockin’ Jalapeño Band” which went on to become one of the Bay area’s most critically acclaimed Bands. He has been musical director with his current band, “Los Niteliters” since 1995.  Chuy has recorded several albums and has toured many parts of the United States performing various genres of Music.

 
He has directed music for theater in addition to composing, recording, and producing music in his home recording studio in Salinas, CA.
